Riton - Killing An Arab
Cheesy Cure Cover Version Alert....
This is available on the very limited 7" released last week on Grand Central Records, It's also going to be on the forthcoming album Homies and Homos released 20th September.
The 7" b-side also features "Homeless", a song written and sung by Ben(Fat Trucker) who also set up the Gucci Soundsystem clubnight with Henry (Riton),I've mentioned all this in a previous post somewhere. Oh, and "Homeless" is also going to be on the Long Player too.
Riton has been busy remixing other artist's lately, with The Human League, Chikinki and Scissor Sisters among them, so all in all he's a pretty busy guy.
If you can't wait till September for the new album why not get Riton's first album Beats Du Jour... It's pretty bloody good.
The Chamber Brothers - Time Has Come Today
The original version of this is taken from the excellent 1967 album Time Has Come on Columbia.
This version though is the re-recorded one made the following year and released as a single which charted at number 11 in the U.S.(which also features as a bonus track on the CD)
Like Sly And The Family Stone The Chamber Brothers were also a true multi-racial group, mixing up Soul, Rock 'n Roll and Psychedelia, but never had the same impact, partly due to the fact that The Family Stone had created a crazy and messed up world for themselves, and partly because The Chamber Brothers were probably more recognised for doing cover versions, although this song and many others they recorded were written by themselves.
Although I love the full version I prefer the shortened version... it cuts out all the psych out stuff in the middle and just concentrates on the song.
see what you think.
Time Has Come Today was also recorded by the sadly missed Ramones for their Subterranean Jungle L.P.
