Umm, I Can't Put My Finger On It...

Two Gallants - The Train That Stole My Man

Two Gallants are childhood friends Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel.
According to which article you read, they are 21 or 23, either way their age belies their old-timey blues sound, but proves they are pretty good musicians and songwriters.
Also hard to believe is that they are from Northern Calfornia in the year 2005 but John Fogerty showed us that you can make some rootsy/bluesy music while hailing from the Bay Area, cause, hey, America is America, despite your accent.
These haunting ballads sound kinda old and weathered which doesn't really go with Two Gallants' cute indie styles (sorry, I couldn't help but notice) or their age which makes them even more compelling and surprising.
Their songs evoke civil war and turn of the century train robbery imagery and sometimes are told from perspectives other than the songwriters, as is the case in The Train That Stole My Man.
Apparently their shows are pretty great and they'll be playing some
SXSW shows next week which sounds just about right... these guys in Texas that is.
