John Otway And Wild Willy Barrett - D.K. 50/80
I have no idea what this song is about or what the hell he's singing but I love it.
This is quite unlike anything Otway had recorded before or since...
Guitar and electronic fuzz.... yum!
This was released on the dynamic duo's 1980 album "Way And Bar" and also earned an a-side 7" release in the same year.
John Otway was most probably famous for being a one hit wonder with the fantastic "Cor Baby That's Really Free" in 1977 and his legendary performance of "Headbutts" on The Old Grey Whistle Test, incidentally in a vote by BBC viewers for best lyrics "Beware Of The Flowers ('cause I'm sure they're going to get you yeh!)" which was the b-side of Cor Baby was voted No.7 of all time.... finishing higher than Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan.... blimey!
John Otway can no longer call himself a one hit wonder as for his 50th birthday his fan club, fed up with him picking flops for singles for the last 20 odd years picked what they thought would be a hit...
They voted for "Bunsen Burner", and you know what...
It bloody was...
Top 10 and everything.
If you've never seen John live, I can highly recommend going and seeing him for a great night out, he and his Ambi-Guitar (pictured above) are currently doing a greatest hits tour of the UK...
As for the rest of the world, you'll have to wait till his first ever world tour in 2006....
Check this out... 2006 World Tour.
For an esimated price of £2500 to £3000 you can get to travel round the world in a chartered plane with John and crew...
Someone want to lend me 3 grand???
Please...

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Dominic to SVC.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what he adds to this already quite eclectic little corner of the interweb thingy...
Of to a flying start with a bit of Johnny, Cheers Dominic.
