Ouch!

Robbie Williams - Radio (Masseymix)

I don't think I can stress enough how much I love the new Robbie Williams single 'Radio'. It's twisted, it's provocative, it's dirty and carnal and most of all it's fucking ace! You have the simplest synthline Human League never made over a clattering A Certain Ratio beat building to a crescendo that pirates the greatest moments of the 80's New Wave and Pop hits yet never once sounds at all dated. This is POP future!

Add to this a striking video directed by Vaughan Arnell (Rock DJ) who melts Robbie's face into a vampire fright-mask, snakes a Devil tail out of his ass and parades him round with the sassiest, tattooed gang of gymnasts you're ever likely to clap eyes on. Then to top it all off, why not get Graham Massey (808 State, Toolshed) in to remix the track. Sounds like a good idea to me!

So here it is then, the Masseymix. And what a magnificent row it is too. Primitive, gritty synth, bass drums that sound like they've been sucked backwards through my neighbours walls, incessant hi-hats and severed vocals. Best of all the mix just gets better on repeated listen, so download, play at high volume (lots) then get out to Woolies and get your hands on the real deal. Three different CD formats to chose from with new tracks and DVD video.

Honorary mention must go to Stephen Duffy from The Lilac Time as co-writer. Guy who?
